Knowing when to rest

If you're anything like me, you feel that you have to always be doing something. You may never catch up on cleaning, cooking, decluttering, or anything else, but you should always take some time out of your day that is your time, and rest. That doesn't necessarily mean take a nap or just sit and twiddle your thumbs. It means take a bit of time and look around you to see what you are thankful for and just breathe. We are so busy in today's world that life mostly just passes us by. I'm still learning how to just relax! I've realised that time is going by far too quickly for my liking, and my little boy is nearly 6 months old already. I'll never get the time back, so I want to spend as much of it with him as is possible. I can do housework while he naps (for now!) and I can cook after Jethro gets home in the evenings.

Today, I am thankful for:
Having my son
Having a wonderful loving husband
Having a washing machine and dryer
Having a house that doesn't leak
Just having a place to sleep that's safe
Having food to eat
Having a wonderful extended family

I refuse to just survive, I choose to LIVE!

Dinner tonight is scheduled to be spaghetti bolognese. The recipe I'll be using is on the Slimming World website and is called "Speedy Bolognese." Note - We hate celery here, so I leave that out of nearly every recipe! Hopefully I'll remember to take photos before we demolish dinner tonight.

Update at 2 pm:
I've thrown together the bolognese sauce, and it's smelling wonderful! I added mushrooms to bulk it up and add to the speed food aspect of the sauce.

I visited the corner store while I was out walking to get Eli to sleep in the buggy and for a bit of exercise, and I left the eclairs that were on clearance alone! Instead I bought reduced mushrooms, reduced potatoes, and reduced salami (for our pizza Saturday, I'll just count the syns for it).  I'm so proud of myself for leaving the major syn stuff alone. It's gotten to the point where ice cream, biscuits, eclairs, pastries, etc just aren't worth it any more.

A great thing I've found to snack on if you're craving something crunchy and savoury: breadsticks! Very low in syns for each, and they are far crunchier than crisps, so are more satisfying in my opinion.

Photo of the spaghetti bolognese. It was lovely, but I think next time I'll chop up some bacon medallions for some extra flavour.
